How can you tell the reader the end of this story?
Step
01/18
Get your supplies.
Step
02/18
In today’s lesson, you’ll need someone to share ideas with. This could
be a partner or someone you sit near. When everyone has a partner,
click the arrow to go to the next step.
Step
03/18
Get pages one and two of your guidebook. Look at the sentence you
wrote on page one. If you see a problem you wrote about on page
one, give a thumbs up.
Step
04/18
Get your Sea Turtle Expert worksheet. Find the expert that talks
about your problem on the first page of your guidebook. Put your
finger on that expert.
Step
05/18
Silently read what your expert said about the sea turtle problem.
When you’re done, show a quiet thumbs up.
Step
06/18
Look at the first picture from your expert and tell your partner what
happens first. Take turns so both partners get to share.
Step
07/18
Put your finger at the end of the sentence you already have on page
one. That’s where you’ll start writing. Write a sentence that tells
what happens first.
Step
08/18
Look at the second picture your expert gave you. Take turns telling
your partner the next part of your story.
Step
09/18
Put your finger at the end of the sentence you just wrote. That’s
where you’ll begin writing. Write a sentence that tells what
happens next.
Step
10/18
Look at the third picture your expert gave you. Take turns telling your
partner the last part of the story.
Step
11/18
Put your finger at the end of the sentence you just wrote. That’s
where you’ll begin writing. Write a sentence that tells what
happens last.
Step
12/18
You finished writing the whole story! In case your reader forgot,
write a sentence that reminds your reader what they need to do
to help sea turtles.

If you need a natural stopping point!

Teachers: This is a natural stopping point. The next step will help students write more about their ideas on the other pages in their guidebooks. If you stop here, be sure to put all the VIPs somewhere safe!

If you’re continuing right now, go to the next slide.

Step
13/18
Start by finding the expert on your Sea Turtle Expert worksheet that
matches the topic you wrote about on page three. Read what that
expert has to say.
Step
14/18
Put your finger at the end of the sentence you already have on page
three. That’s where you’ll start writing. Write a sentence that tells
what happens first.
Step
15/18
Now take a look at the second picture your expert gave you.
Write a sentence that tells what happens next.
Step
16/18
Look at the third picture your expert gave you. Write a sentence
that tells what happens last.
Step
17/18
In case your reader forgot, write a sentence that reminds your
reader what they need to do to help sea turtles.
Step
18/18
You now have a full draft of your guidebook, full of ways people can
help sea turtles. Don’t forget to put your VIPs in a safe place so you’ll
have them for next time.
