DISCUSS:
How would you describe the tulip festival to a friend?
DISCUSS:
What words would you add to help the reader picture these examples?
Step
01/14
Get your supplies.
Step
02/14
In today’s lesson, you’ll need someone to share ideas with. This could
be a partner or someone you sit near. When everyone knows who
their talk partner is, move on to the next step.
Step
03/14
Find your notes. Read over the festival you picked and think about
what your second reason for your opinion is. When you’re done
reading, give a silent thumbs up.
Step
04/14
Find where it says “Reason” on your Reason 2 Draft worksheet.
Find the reason you picked from your notes and circle it.
Step
05/14
Look at your notes and draw a checkmark by the example you want
to use below your reason.
Step
06/14
Decide which describing words you want to use to help your reader
picture your example. Look at the box and circle words you want to
use or add your own.
Step
07/14
Find the box that says “Example.” Write a sentence or two about the
example you picked.
Step
08/14
Look at the Reason box. Copy the beginning of the sentence and
the reason you circled into the Reason 2 Draft box to begin your
Reason 2 paragraph.
Step
09/14
Write about your example.
Step
10/14
Add a reaction.
Step
11/14
Read through your Reason 2 paragraph. You can make changes if you
want!
Step
12/14
Take turns sharing your writing for your second reason with your
partner.
Step
13/14
Set your Reason 2 Draft to the side and get your Reason 1 Draft.
Look over your writing and look for places that you can add
describing words. Add them to your writing.
Step
14/14
Read through your Reason 1 paragraph. You can make changes if you
want!
