Step
01/14
Get your supplies.
Step
02/14
In today’s lesson, you’ll need someone to share ideas with. This could
be a partner, or someone you sit near. When everyone knows who
their talk partner is, move on to the next step.
Step
03/14
Copy your thesis statement from the bottom of your notes onto
your Podcast Planning worksheet.
Step
04/14
Take 30 seconds to think quietly about why you picked your animal.
Step
05/14
Take turns sharing with your partner the reasons you came up with.
Step
06/14
Write one reason why you would want to be the animal you chose in
the Reason 1 box. You’ll add a second reason later on.
Step
07/14
Flip your Either/Or Notes face down on your desk. Fold the paper on
the line. Use your finger to press down and make a strong crease.
Step
08/14
Flip your notes page to the side that matches the animal you chose.
Put your notes page next to your Podcast Planning worksheet.
Step
09/14
Look for facts and details that show Reason 1. Put a checkmark next
to any notes that could be examples.
Step
10/14
Check your reason to see if it’s an idea that you can support with
examples. If not, you can change your reason.
Step
11/14
Choose two examples that best explain Reason 1. Copy those notes
into the Examples boxes. If you have more examples, you can write
them below.
Step
12/14
Think of a second reason why you want to be the animal that you
chose. Write your second reason in the Reason 2 box.
Step
13/14
Use your Either/Or Notes or your Informative Article to find
examples for Reason 2. Put arrows next to any notes you
want to use as examples.
Step
14/14
Choose two examples that best explain Reason 2. Copy those notes
into the Example boxes. If you want, you can write three.
