You’ll need a piece of writing that you’re going to edit and get ready
to publish. Get the draft you’re working on now.

Discuss: Where is the missing capital letter?

Check the start of every sentence to make sure they begin with a
capital letter. If any don’t, you can change the letter.

Discuss: Where is the missing comma in this sentence?

Now, look through your writing. Check the end of every sentence to
make sure it ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation mark.
Check your transition phrases to make sure they have a comma.

Discuss: Where is the spelling mistake in this sentence?

Now, get your writing. Use all the spelling strategies you know to help
you spell your words. You can also use resources in your classroom
to help you if you’re not sure how to spell a word.

Discuss: What part of this sentence doesn’t sound right?

Now, read your writing to check to make sure it sounds right. You can
read in your head or whisper read to yourself. If you find a part that
doesn’t sound right, you can fix your sentence.

Recopy your work in your best handwriting.

Practice your podcast voice. After you practice, find your podcast
partner. When everyone knows who their podcast partner will be,
move on to the next step.

Get your final podcast script. Fill in the information in the box at the
top.

With your partner, decide who will be the first “host” and who will be
the first “guest.”

Host: You can put your podcast script to the side for now.
Both podcasters will read off of the “guest’s” podcast script.

Share your podcast! When you’ve finished sharing one partner’s
podcast, you can switch roles and share the other one.

  • edit their writing for punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and usage.

  • recopy their writing onto a final copy, either by hand or digitally.

  • share their writing.
