DISCUSS:
Do you think this adventure was meaningful for Harper? Why or why not?
Step
01/15
Get your supplies.
Step
02/15
Get your story draft worksheets. Quietly read what’s happened in
your story so far to yourself.
Step
03/15
Look at the last box of your story map. If you want to make any
changes to your plan, you can do that now.
Step
04/15
Draft the end of your story on your story draft worksheet.
Step
05/15
If you wrote on extra story draft pages today, make sure you
continue the page numbers to keep your story in order.

If you need a natural stopping point!

Teachers: This is a natural stopping point. The next steps will guide students through folding and assembling their final story book. If you stop here, be sure to put all the VIPs somewhere safe!

If you’re continuing right now, go to the next slide.

Step
06/15
Edit your writing to look for mistakes. If you find any, you can fix
them.
Step
07/15
Get these new supplies.
Step
08/15
Get your Story Cover Page. Fill in the blanks with a title for your
story, and your name as the author.
Step
09/15
Fold each of your story draft pages in half on the dotted line.
Step
10/15
Fold your cover page in half on the dotted line.
Step
11/15
Stack your folded story draft pages in order in a pile with page 1
on the top. Make sure they are in a neat pile with the edges lined up.
Step
12/15
Take your folded cover page with the title on the front. Open the fold
and place your stack of folded story draft pages into the cover page.
Step
13/15
Make sure all your pages are lined up. Use a stapler to put three
staples on the staple icons. If you’re waiting your turn for a stapler,
you can start drawing a picture on the cover of your book.
Step
14/15
Fold the top of your book on the solid line here. Be aware of the
staples while you fold, they can be sharp! Press down to make a
strong crease, then unfold it.
Step
15/15
On the back of your book, you can fill in the blanks to complete a
story summary. When you’ve completed your summary, use your
coloring supplies to make a fun cover for your story.
