Step
01/17
Before we begin, you’ll need a piece of writing that you’re going
to edit and get ready to publish. Get the draft you’re working on
now. For Road Trip: Get your Itinerary.
Step
02/17
Discuss: What is the end punctuation in this sentence?
Step
03/17
Now, look through your writing. Check every sentence to make
sure it ends with a period, question mark, or exclamation mark.
If it doesn’t, you can add one.
Step
04/17
Discuss: Where are the missing capital letters?
Step
05/17
Check the start of every sentence to make sure it begins with a
capital letter. If any are missing, you can change the lower case
letter to a capital letter.
Step
06/17
Discuss: Where is the spelling mistake in this sentence?
Step
07/17
Use all the spelling strategies you know to help you spell your
words. You can also use resources in your classroom if you’re not
sure how to spell a word.

Congratulations! Your writing has leveled up!

If you need a natural stopping point:

Teachers, this is a natural stopping point. The next steps will guide students through setting up their final draft to share. If you stop here, be sure to put all the VIPs somewhere safe!

If you’re continuing right now, go to the next slide.

Step
08/17
Get your supplies.
Step
09/17
Get your Stop #1 worksheet. Cut along this dotted line.
Start 2 piles on your desk.
Step
10/17
Do the same thing with your Stop #2 and Stop #3 worksheets.
Cut along the dotted lines and add to the piles on your desk.
Step
11/17
Put the billboard pile to the side.
Step
12/17
Get your introduction/conclusion worksheet. Cut along the
dotted line.
Step
13/17
Put your writing pages in order. Give a silent thumbs up when all of
your pages are in the right order.
Step
14/17
Get your itinerary cover page. Write your name on the line.
Step
15/17
Fold your itinerary cover in half, along the line in the middle.
Step
16/17
Open the fold of your cover page and place your stack of itinerary
pages into the cover.
Step
17/17
Make sure all your pages are lined up and neatly stacked inside
of the cover. Use a stapler to put three staples on the staple icons.
Decorate the cover of your journal.
